XYZ Grid .DAT File Description
Surfer exports to the XYZ grid file format.
The XYZ file is a simple encoding of 3D points into an ASCII text file. Each line of the file contains three numbers. Each triplet of three numbers comprises the X, Y, and Z coordinates, respectively, of a point in 3D space.
Import Options Dialog
Surfer does not import the XYZ .DAT grid file. You can open the file using the File | Open command. The file will open in the Surfer worksheet window. No import option dialog is displayed.
Import Automation Options
No import options are available.
Saving Files
Use the Grids | Edit | Convert command in the plot document, or File | Save As in the Grid Editor to export .DAT files. Alternatively, the XYZ .DAT grid file format is available when prompted to save a grid file.
