XYZ Grid .DAT File Description
Surfer exports to the XYZ grid file format.
The XYZ file is a simple encoding of 3D points into an ASCII text file. Each line of the file contains three numbers. Each triplet of three numbers comprises the X, Y, and Z coordinates, respectively, of a point in 3D space.
Import Options Dialog
Surfer does not import the XYZ .DAT grid file. You can open the file using the File | Open in Worksheet command. The file will open in the Surfer worksheet window. No import option dialog is displayed.
Import Automation Options
No import options are available.
Saving Files
Use the Grids | Edit | Convert command in the plot document, or File | Save | Save As in the Grid Editor to export .DAT files. Alternatively, the XYZ .DAT grid file format is available when prompted to save a grid file.
