Convert to 2D Grid Surface / to 3D Grid Volume
Click the Convert 2D to/from 3D Grid button to seamlessly switch between different grid display modes for 3D XYZC grid files in the 3D view.
When a 2D grid surface is selected in the Contents window, the button will display Convert to 3D Grid Volume (), transforming the 2D grid surface into a 3D grid volume, with 3D display options such as volume render, contours, or isosurfaces. This command is only active if the 2D grid surface was originally created from a 3D XYZC grid file (i.e. if the 3D grid volume was previously changed to a 2D grid surface via Convert to 2D Grid Surface, this provides a way to change it back to a 3D grid volume).
Conversely, when a 2D grid surface is selected in the Contents window, the button changes to Convert to 3D Grid Volume (). This transforms the 2D grid surface back into a 3D grid volume, enabling 3D visualization options such as volume rendering, contours, and isosurfaces. The command is available only if the 2D grid surface was originally derived from a 3D XYZC grid file. This functionality allows you to reverse a prior conversion from 3D to 2D.
