Analyze 7.5 Medical Image .IMG Files

Surfer imports and exports Analyze 7.5 medical image data sets as uniform lattices. Analyze 7.5 format is a file format for storing MRI data. An Analyze 7.5 data set consists of two files, the .HDR file and the .IMG file.

File name extensions:

  • The .HDR file contains information about the format of the data set.

  • The .IMG file contains the image data.

Analyze 7.5 format can contain multiple volumes (i.e., time points), each volume with multiple slices (i.e., Z dimensions), each slice with X and Y dimensions and each pixel (i.e., node) with possible multiple components. Each volume should have the same X, Y and Z dimension and component info.

Loading .IMG Files

Analyze 7.5 IMG files can be loaded to create a grid based map (i.e. Home | New Map | Contour) with the Open Grid dialog, or when using the functions in the Grid menu.

Import Options Dialog

No import options dialog is displayed.

Import Automation Options

No import options are available.

Saving Files

Use the Grids | Edit | Convert command in the plot document, or File | Save | Save As in the Grid Node Editor to export .IMG files. Alternatively, the Analyze 7.5 .IMG file format is available when prompted to save a grid file.
