ERDAS Imagine .IMG File Description
Surfer imports ERDAS Imagine IMG files. ERDAS Imagine uses .img files to store raster data with the ERDAS Imagine Hierarchal File Format (HFA) structure. The contents of an ERDAS Imagine .IMG file is not fixed and can be an image or a grid.
If the ERDAS Imagine IMG file is an image file, the file can be imported in four ways:
-
As an image with the Home | Insert | Graphic command.
-
As a base layer with the Home | New Map | Base or Home | Add to Map | Layer | Base command.
-
As a grid-based layer (e.g. Contour layer with Home | New Map | Contour or Home | Add to Map | Layer | Contour). If the image is loaded as a grid-based layer, the Z value will be in the range from 0 to 1.
-
With the Open Grid dialog via one of the applicable Grid Menu commands.
If the ERDAS Imagine IMG file is a grid file, the file must be imported as a grid-based layer or with the Open Grid dialog.
