NetCDF .NC .GRD File Description
Surfer can import NetCDF .NC and .GRD lattice file formats. Surfer can export NetCDF .NC lattice file formats. These files are uniform grids.
NetCDF is a set of software libraries and self-describing, machine-independent data formats that support the creation, access, and sharing of array-oriented scientific data. It is also a community standard for sharing scientific data. NetCDF was developed and is maintained at Unidata, part of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) Community Programs (UCP). Unidata is funded primarily by the National Science Foundation.
A NetCDF file may contain multiple variables. An import options dialog shows all importable variables available in the file. Only one variable may be imported at a time, and only the selected variable will be imported. The Import Options dialog will not be displayed if only one variable is present in the NetCDF file.
Loading Files
NetCDF NC grid files are similar to Surfer grid files and can be loaded to create a grid based map (i.e. Home | New Map | Contour), or when using the functions in the Grids tab.
Export Options
See Export Options - Spatial References. Use the Grids | Edit | Convert command in the plot document, or the File | Save | Save As command in the Grid Editor to export an NetCDF Network Common Data Form .NC file.
